Basic information about Grottammare

Known as the Pearl of the Adriatic sea, Grottammare is at the heart of the Riviera delle Palme Picena in the Marche. The beach is of fine sand, the crystal clear sea gently slopes. The green lush palm trees and white and pink oleanders in bloom can only recall suggestions related to exotic destinations. Grottammare offers all this without going too far. Palm trees, orange trees, a symbol of its mild climate, pine trees and oleanders. The green and the scent of nature combine togheter and take you to long walks on the coast, between the Art Nouveau villas in the center and the clean sea and shallow waters.

Grottammare consists of two distinct urban centers, the "ancient town" historic core anchored on the hill that overlooks the sea, and the area of the 'marina' which extends south to 4 km. New cycle paths  connect Grottammare  with the neighboring towns along the beach, close to the cliffs, with bars, bazaars and markets, and let pleasant day cycling tours and scenic walks in the evening illuminated, cooled by the sea breeze.

Since 1999 Grottammare has the award of the European Blue Flag, which is assigned to locations that are characterized by respect for the environment, the quality of the seawater. It 's also the ideal starting point for sightseeing with excursions  even half a day. You can see beautiful medieval towns in Piceno hinterland, rich in history and tradition, a few kilometers from the sea.
